Education is a valuable commodity for international relations in the Netherlands. There is enormous interest from abroad for Dutch knowledge and technology. Participation in economic missions where knowledge/help and trade are integrated abroad can contribute to our reputation abroad. This is one of the ways in which knowledge diplomacy can be used more strongly in Dutch foreign policy.
Educational institutions in the Netherlands are looking for an approach to successfully combine (trade) missions, knowledge and trade. Also, BZ, EZ and other companies are interested in this approach and seek opportunities to successfully engage in the golden triangle (also) for international business. From the Green Knowledge Institutions, there is a need to shape more strategic, proactive and programmatic cooperation with Dutch business actively abroad as well as local business and education.
Our ambition is to increase the integration of missions in a predetermined number of countries from the green sector. Lessons learned from this formula can serve as input for policy input and possibly a broader approach. The existing country tables will be consulted to determine the strategic missions from the collective.
This initiative is helping us work towards the goal of ‘Internationalisation’, which is part of our ‘Dutch green education development agenda’. Borderless Network is a leading partner in the development of Internationalisation and its relative themed initiatives.
